For my Neuse River Anthology project, I decided to create a collage. I’ve grown up in Craven County, and this is pretty much home to me. Living here for as long as I have, I know of all the hidden gems in Craven County. So, by doing a collage, I got to capture all of the different places instead of focusing on just one single place. The places I captured didn’t always have historical value, but sentimental. Like for example, Creekside Park where I got my first goal in soccer. Or Cherry Point, where my dad shipped out to Afghanistan and Iraq three times, and came back safely each time.
I decided to call my piece “A Million Words”. I call it a million words because a picture is said to be a thousand words. Well I put several pictures together, creating one big and beautiful picture. Therefore, it created a million words.
The point of this assignment was to show our perspective of craven county. While at times it may seem this place is a boring wasteland, it is beautiful.
