[Craven
County is a coastal community-
full
of tranquility, life, and history.
Though
Craven county is a peaceful isolated community,
there
are various aspects that make Craven County-
the
lively community with a hidden historical background.
From
the deserted neighborhoods-
to
the crowded public areas of Craven County,
there
are opportunities for discovery scattered everywhere.
Dreams
are born and futures are created;
like a luminous tulip that sprouts from a small pile of soil.
An
abundance of originality formed by creations-
creations
that sprung out of the soul of Craven County.
From the family businesses to the simplicity of the architect-
simply
no replica of any other-
that
truly has its own aesthetic qualities.
Craven
County is full of simplicity.
You
smell it from the aroma of downtown New Bern-
And
while exploring a restaurant such as Captain Ratties-
detest
a taste of one thing Craven County tries to capture-
yes,
that pleasurable absorbent feeling of comfort.
Downtown
New Bern is just one place-
one
place to explore foods and expand your self-knowledge;
from
small cafes, shops, or family owned restaurants-
hiding
around the block like a child playing hide-and-seek;
barely
noticeable if you don't go rummaging.
And
Near the elongated Neuse River,
ducks
are attracted like leaden magnets.
Though
letting out no voice, you can still hear them
constantly
screaming and begging for crumbs of bread-
creating
ripples in the once stagnant river.
A
whole flock of a dozen- no two dozen!
soar
simultaneously for a single pieces of soggy bread
floating
rapidly out into the vast horizon.
Maliciously
swinging their soft wings-
that
claw against one another.
It's
the experience of driving down the spacious roads
and
noticing the endless sight in the surroundings:
the
terrain is flat and houses align in an imperfect row.
Like
a tight knot in a thread of string; it is imperfection.
This
is the real beauty of Craven County.
Imagine
walking outside into the crisp air-
that
first refreshing breath that sends you on a journey-
to
new places that you could have never thought existed;
A
place that is unknown to the rest of the word
but
is a familiar name to Craven County.
Besides
the visible beauty-
that
commonly follows behind vast rays of light,
The
embraceable changes to night's obscurity
show
no signs of being timid; just noticeable-
and
desires for the attention of hundreds gawking.
As
the silhouettes of towering trees
loom
over the vast rivers casting its shadow,
the
joyous crickets sing on the top of their lungs-
the
melody gets carried away in the eerie sky.
Until
it fades off into the distance.
And
the abrupt sight of obscurity and darkness
announces
the day is coming to an end-
as
a new one awaits patiently around the corner;
with
people to meet and places to go.
Craven
County is not just a county, but a home.

Other
than the common well known architects and historical buildings (e.g., birth
place of Pepsi, Tryon Palace, etc.), Craven County has lots of aesthetic beauty
that people might not notice because Craven County doesn’t “glorify” fancy
restaurants and expensive stores like the big cities others die to visit. The
real beauty isn’t found near commercialized places, but everywhere around us.
From the sight of leaves floating from tree branches to the sight of the Neuse
River lying in the vast surrounding. And Craven County is full of natural beauty
and originality that is so rare to other places; this is one of the main things
to love about Craven County!
Home
brings
audience to the realization that Craven County is original and doesn’t need to
be known world-wide to be considered a “worthy” place. It’s a tranquil and
comforting environment to visit or live in. It allows you to take some time to
relax, sit back, and enjoy the everyday miracles that happen:like when the sun
sets casting colors to loom over the River. As a resident of Craven County, I
have been able to experience the amazing multitudes of things that are
scattering about. In my eyes, Craven County is not only a place but it is also a
home.
