What makes Craven County Unique?
By Uniqua
Lets see, Lets take a look,
Lets go back
In our history books,
Well Craven County is made up
into four parts,
Each one has something special in it
I don’t know where to start,
Lets take Bridgeton, it’s known for its
agriculture which varies,
Oh those luscious, sweet tasting
Nelson's Famous Blueberries,
This town has so much to give
In so many ways,
That they've came up
with there own phrase,
Think Bridgeton,
Think life on the River,
There may be plenty of buried treasures,
rubies, gold or silver,
People take it for grant it,
but who knows
Only what they were told,
Some still searching all up and down the coast
for BlackBeard’s gold.
Next on the agenda is Vanceboro
When you say Vanceboro
It was once called Swift Creek,
It reminds you of the Strawberry Festival
That has lots activities and great treats
to eat.
There known for the schools academic skills,
Those West Craven Eagles
are awesome on the courts and fields.
GO EAGLES!
Of course there’s Havelock
A city that is flying high, with lots of aircraft
in the sky,
That would be the worlds largest
Marine Corp Air Station: Cherry Point
Each year, you can see planes, jets
flying, diving high and low,
The Blue angels put on
quit an Air Show,
On their school,
The Havelock Rams won the title,
State Champions of 2012
Now they are idols.
GO RAMS!
Oh how about New Bern
Which was founded by Swiss,
They have lots of attractions
Check out their list,
There’s plenty tourist attractions
from festivals, to historic landmarks
Such as historic houses, the Battle field and
Union Point Park,
Tourist love to see what use to be
the State Capital of North Carolina years ago,
I’m talking about The Tryon Palace
where in their gardens,
the beautiful flowers grow.
I bet you didn't know Brad’s Drink
known to the world as “Pepsi”
was invented in New Bern,
as you can see.
Speaking of learning,
We got New Bern High.
Their High School is good, and is also very swell.
They are also the State Champs of 2012.
Undefeated and cool!
GO BEARS!
So you see
Craven County
has a lot
to offer and learn.
Craven County has four cities
There’s plenty of adventure
and lots to explore!
I guess you could say
It’s a place to settle down
Who could ask for more?

My Author Note
Growing up in Craven County inspired me to write a poem about the place I've lived on all my life. In doing this I researched different information about Craven County. Not only does my poem have little bits and pieces of humor in it. It has information that is real and easy to remember. Historical literature is displayed in my poem. What Craven County means to me is a historical, beautiful place and very educational for the world to see and learn different events in history that actual happened here. My work captures certain events that happen in Craven County every year, it also shows some of our agriculture that is grown in the county in festivals each and every year. We have slogans, hidden treasures, agriculture to livestock that keeps Craven County rich in products and education.
